Writing Real Sex

  • The Bowery cafe and Creative Centre Headingly, Leeds, LS6 2AL United Kingdom (map)

Sex can be notoriously difficult to talk and write about – edgy, challenging and loaded with potential embarrassment.  In this workshop, we will begin to name and strip away the shame barriers and get comfortable with sexy words. We’ll look at a range of potential vocabulary to use and how to avoid hiding behind hints and euphemisms.

The day will be focused on a range of practical exercises, which will include sharing, listening and writing.  Not for the faint-hearted, this lively workshop will allow you to overcome shyness in using explicit language. It will gently support your movement into more confidence and courage about this essential aspect of our humanness, and encourage you to share real experience more authentically on the page

No previous writing experience is necessary.

The workshop will take place in the lovely, light-filled studio of The Bowery café, a stone’s throw from the creative buzz of Headingley and easily accessible by bus from the city centre and the university quarter.
